President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have today joined the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain at the White House to mark historic normalization agreements between Israel and the two Arab countries.

Trump hailed the occasion, claiming the signing of the Abraham Accords will "change the course of history," and marks "the dawn of a new Middle East."

Together these agreements will serve as the foundation for a comprehensive peace across the entire region, something which nobody thought was possible, certainly not in this day and age," Trump said. "These agreements prove that the nations of the region are breaking free from failed approaches of the past. Today's signing sets history on a new course and there will be other countries very very soon that will follow these great leaders.

Netanyahu described the day as a "pivot of history, a new dawn of peace."

The last time such a ceremony took place in Washington was in 1994, when President Bill Clinton looked on as Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Jordanian King Hussein signed a declaration that paved the way for a peace deal months later.

The signing ceremony highlights a realignment in the Middle East, as Arab nations once devoted to Palestinian statehood move away from that commitment to solidify their ties with Israel. It also showcased Trump's close ties with Netanyahu.

Netanyahu called the agreement “a massive turning point in the history of Israel as well as the history of the Middle East. It will have a huge a positive impact on all Israelis. I promise you, from what I see here, that more countries are on the way.”

President Donald Trump will serve as a witness when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signs an historic peace accord with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Trump and his allies are hoping the agreements will burnish his credentials as a peacemaker with the presidential election less than two months away. Trump’s campaign has touted the agreements on Facebook as “historic Middle East peace deals," which experts noted was an overstatement.

  1. "Blessed are the peace maker for they shall see God"~Matt 5:9. And Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must surely come; but woe to that man by whom the offence comes"~ Matt 18:7. Thanks.
