The Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammad, has received the report of the committee of the state Joint Public Service Council on the implementation of the National Minimum Wage set by the Federal Government. Government has accordingly approved the payment of N30,000 as minimum wage for employees in the state with effect from January 1, 2020.

According to him, the payment was to fulfill Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s earlier assurance to increase the restructured workers wage by N600. Garba, who promised that the government would settle arrears of April to November, 2019 on installments bases, said an agreement to that effect had already been reached with the Joint Public Service Negotiation Council (JNC).

He appealed to civil servants to reciprocate the gesture by dedicating themselves to their duties so as to improve service delivery. He also enjoined the workers, particularly those in the revenue generating entities, to make extra effort by ensuring that taxable individuals and corporate bodies always pay their dues so that government will continue its laudable development programmes for the teeming populace.
