Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio Inducts New Members

Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, an umbrella body that seeks to bring together and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Ibibio nation, over the weekend came together to mark her 32nd Anniversary Celebration.

Amidst pomp and pageantry, the event was marked as the 21st Obong Sampson Udo Etuk Biennial Lecture & Excellence Awards Ceremony. It took place at the Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio International Secretariat, Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

In his speech during the event, the 10th International President of the organization, Obong Patrick Udofia who performed the induction and decoration ceremony, noted that “the persons honored were chosen purely on merit for their contribution to the society”. The inductees were thereafter given their oath of allegiance, certificates of members as well as other insignia of membership. The colorful ceremony was witnessed by friends and relations of the inductees.

Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio is a socio-cultural organization of Ibibio youths founded on 1stAugust, 1987 by 12 patriotic Ibibio sons. It had its inaugural meeting at No. 7 Bonny Street, Calabar, Cross Rivers State  Though its main aim at formation was the promotion of Ibibio culture, tradition and dignity, the organisation is also out to promote social, economic and political development of the people of  Mainland part of the then Cross River State,  now made up of Akwa Ibom State,

The organization draws inspiration from the legendary Ibibio Union of old that catered for the entire mainland part of the Old Calabar Province – Ibibio, Annang and Oron. 

The cardinal programmes of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio are the promotion of inter-ethnic cooperation within the body politic of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission under the Company and Allied Matters Decree of 1990.  It has chapters in most local government areas of Akwa Ibom State, major cities in Nigeria, London and in the United States of America/Canada. It has as her motto “oneness for service”.
