Akwa Ibom State University Students Shine at TV Debate

A team of students from Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) days ago, participated in the 2019 “Growing Up TV Debate” competition. The event was held to commemorate this year’s World Environment Day, which had “Air Pollution” as its theme.

The competition which took place inside the television studio of NTA channel 12, also drew participants from University of Uyo (UNIUYO). The two (2) hour exercise saw students from both intuitions trade tackles for and against the submission that "indoor air pollution is a more serious threat to public health than outdoor air pollution".

At the end of the exercise, a student from AKSU emerged as the second Best speaker and took home a N30,000 cash reward as well as a trophy. The Annual debate which happens to be the 3rd in the series, was facilitated by Dr. Val Attah.

The contingent from AKSU was made up: Elnathan Isaiah Umoh, Samuel David Ibanga, Isong Iboro Paulinus, Mbaba Joyce Felix, George Idara Michael, Etim Kufre Effiong, Elijah Bright Nse, and Uduak Boniface Bassey, while the following staff of the University accompanied them: Dr. Imoh Imoh-Ita, Mrs. Uwem Abia, Mr. Nnamso Marcus Udoudo, and Mr. Wilson Ekanem.
