TRCN Inducts AKSU Graduating Students

No fewer than 80 graduating students of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) have been inducted into the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

At an induction ceremony held at Ikot Akpaden Campus of the University, Tuesday, Registrar of the Council, Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, represented by Director of Professional Operations, Adamu Bello, charged the students to consider their role in solving the Nation's educational challenges as pivotal, and be ready to join hands with other professionals in the sector to mitigate these concerns.

In his speech, Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Eno Ibanga, charged the graduating students to maintain high level of discipline and remain worthy ambassadors of the University, while discharging their duties.



He expressed confidence in the quality of research and learning students of the University are exposed to, stressing they are in line with what is obtainable in the 21st century.

Also speaking, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Helen Ante, said the TRCN was established not just to regulate the activities of teachers, but also to ensure compliance, enhance efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.

“Let me stress here that the influence of teachers on pupils and students as well as the society they live in is so significant and very valuable. Teachers should therefore show commitment to render efficient, effective and conscientious service to humanity”, she added.

The Induction lecture delivered by Prof. Queen Obianaju on the topic: "The relevance and challenge of Teachers Education programme in Nigeria”, highlighted key areas of teacher's education and training, which require urgent attention, to guarantee optimal performance.

In his welcome address, Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Patrick Uko, said the induction ceremony was designed to welcome new crop of Professional teachers, who have passed through the rigorous training and qualify to be inducted, based on character and learning.


Responding on behalf of the inductees, Miss Glory Easy Ndekwu, a graduating student from the Department of Education Integrated Science, expressed gratitude to lecturers of the Faculty and management of Akwa Ibom State University support given them during the period of the TRCN programme.



The Induction exercise was also witnessed by senior officers from the Nigerian Naval School, Ikot Ntuen, Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
