It was a sight to behold and a thing of joy when on Saturday the 29th of December 2018, former Miss Lucia Esio Oboho and Barr. Edidiong Ebong had their wedding ceremony. The colourful event took place at the Immanuel Methodist cathedral Itiam Etoi in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Officiating during the event, His Grace Most Rev. Chimezuo Nwankpa (Archbishop of Methodist church Uyo) charged the couple from Malachi chapter 2 verse 13-16 . He urged the couple to endeavour to live a life worthy of emulation, stressing that there is no room for divorce. Most Rev. Nwankpa likewise requested the parents of the couple to continue to support them in their prayers and give them the opportunity to grow and build their home.

Another thing you do: You flood the Lord’s altar with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer looks with favor on your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands. You ask, “Why?” It is because the Lord is the witness between you and the wife of your youth. You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant. Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring.[a] So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth. “The man who hates and divorces his wife,” says the Lord, the God of Israel, “does violence to the one he should protect,”[b] says the Lord Almighty. So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful.

The service featured prayers for the newly wed, exchange of vows/rings, proclamation of marriage, hymns, signing of the marriage register and ministration of the Word. Highpoint of the event was the symbolic tying of the hand s of the couple to represent what the scriptures mean in Mark chapter 10 "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh...”

The ceremony was witnessed by friends and relatives of the couple, as well of church members and well-wishers. Prof. Esio Oboho is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of Akwa Ibom State University.

Guests were latter treated to a reception ceremony at Ibom Tropicana resorts, Uyo.
