Atletico are the new champions of the UEFA Super Cup after beating city rivals Real Madrid 4-2 in the encounter on Wednesday night. 2 goals from Diego Costa and one each from Koke and Saul Niguez ensured Simeone's side emerged victorious.

They have now clinched the title for the 3rd time while Costa set a new record of the fastest goal with his 50 seconds goal. Diego Costa opened scoring for Los Rojiblancos barely one minute into the game after firing home a powerful shot from the right side of the goal post. France international Karim Benzema level parity for the Santiago Bernabeu side in the 27th minute with a fine header from a Gareth Bale's cross.

The Galacticos took the lead for the first time in the game following Sergio Ramos' spot kick in the 63rd minute after Diego Godin was flagged for handling the ball in his box. But a 79th minute equaliser from the Spanish national team striker helped Diego Simeone's men stretch the game into extra time.

Saul Niguez's 99th minute volley gave Atletico the lead for the second time in the game and a simple and fine finish from koke wrapped the victory up for the Europa League champions as they hand Julen Lopetegui his first defeat as the new manager of the Galacticos.

The game has a total duration of 120 minutes.
