Background of the Competition:
The competition was essentially meant to identify higher institutions that have a deep passion for Geophysics, Petroleum Geology and Sequence Stratigraphy. It seeks to known how these institutions can put together knowledge to integrate and evaluate an oil field that, in this case, was provided by an oil company to ascertain the hydrocarbon bearing potentials of the field provided including the volumetric of the field.

To carry out the above task, NAPE/AAPG provided the competing schools with an oil company based mentor to monitor the progress of the students. Exxon Mobil Production Company Unlimited provided the oil field that  used for the BEC competition.

The team from Akwa Ibom State University comprised of Mr. Udoh Utibeabasi Nicholas, Mr. Inyang Kokoette and Mr. Akpanudo Enobong Monday.
