A former chairman of the Non-Academic Staff Union  (NASU) at the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Eductaion, Ijanikin, Lagos, Mr. Anrinle Ahmed, has sent a petition to the Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, seeking a reversal of his dismal from the college. In a petition dated August 19, Ahmed said the college’s Governing Council was not being fair to him by terminating his appointment.

According to the former NASU chariman, he was sacked after allegations of owning shares in an unnamed company were levelled against him. Putting the blame on partiality, Ahmed alleged that the council had left other workers in the college unpunished, even though their offences were bigger than his.

“My appointment was terminated retrospectively by the college governing council. A three calendar months’ notice or alternatively 3 months’ pay in lieu of notice was never given to me as required for a confirmed staff by the college condition of service. What was responsible for the termination of my appointment, according to the council, was an allegation that I have a share in a company called Rinllandded Nigeria Limited. The council never accused me of anything in relation to my job schedule. More worrisome is that the same council demoted members of staff of the college who were found to have compromised their professional ethics such as raping students, awarding marks of arbitrarily to students, plagiarism and corruption. Also, the council did not terminate the appointment of a deputy registrar of the college, who worked and collected salaries from three places, including the Federal College of Education, Akoka and the National Postgraduate Medical College,” the petition read in part.

Ahmed urged the governor to use his powers to reverse the termination of his appointment at the College, adding that the alleged company had even helped the College increase the amount of internally generated revenue.
